In early April 1865, US President Abraham Lincoln had a strange dream which he shared with his wife. In that dream, he heard subdued sobs as he wandered through the White House. He entered the East Room, where he found a corpse on a catafalque, wrapped in funeral vestments. Approaching the crowd that watched over the corpse, he asked a soldier who had died. He replied “The president”. He suddenly awoke from his dream and had no more sleep that night. Lincoln was murdered at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, ten days later this nightmare, on April 15, 1865.
