The dream, Moe Moea

sono gauguin

It is one of the lesser known paintings of the French impressionist painter Paul Gauguin (1848-1903). The original title, Le Revê, Moe Moea, is made up of two languages, French and Maori. Painted in 1892 during the painter’s stay in Tahiti, it portrays, according to some critics, the dream of a woman with her childhood. The candle in the background seems to light up the work, the sleep and the dream in an even more enigmatic way.
