The Sleeper

Pencil drawing, paper, entitled Le Dormeur (The Sleeper), by post-Impressionist French artist Georges-Pierre Seraut. It was performed in 1883, when the artist was 24, the same year in which he worked hard on what is considered one of his best works, Bathers at Asnieres. Georges Seraut was born in 1859 and died in 1891, at 31 years of age, possibly of meningitis. Le Dormeur is in the Louvre museum in Paris.
